# Request a paid-plan handoff

Launch state: **Live**. Agents can register at /auth.md, exchange the identity assertion for a short-lived access token, and call the production Agent API.

Agent authentication is required with the `neotask:billing:handoff` scope. Send an `operation` from the server-owned upgrade catalog. An optional `requiredFeature` must exactly match the server mapping; it cannot grant access.

A successful handoff request deliberately returns HTTP 402 with `plan_required`, eligible plans, and a short-lived opaque `checkoutUrl`. It never creates Stripe Checkout. Repeated requests for the same registration, requirement, and validity window reuse the same handoff.

The URL contains no bearer token, tenant identifier, user identifier, email address, or Stripe identifier. Give it to the user without modifying it.
