What is an Agent Marketplace?

Building a capable agent from scratch — the prompts, tool integrations, guardrails, and evaluation — takes real effort, so marketplaces exist to let that work be reused: a specialist builds an agent for, say, expense categorization or lead qualification, and other businesses install it rather than building their own version. This mirrors how the app-store model let individual developers reach users without every business needing custom software built from zero. The trust questions are different from a normal app store, though, because an installed agent typically needs real permissions — access to email, calendars, financial systems — to do its job. A well-run marketplace vets what data and tool scopes each listed agent requests, shows that clearly before install, and keeps the installing tenant's own authorization scope and approval gates in force regardless of what the agent's author intended, so a marketplace agent can't silently ask for more access than the task requires.
